Christchurch Earthquake

One week after a devastating earthquake, Christchurch residents and the country stood still for 2 minutes as they remember all the loved ones who lost their lives. The toll to date is 154 but there are about 200 people unaccounted for. Many houses have been demolished as they have been declared unsafe. Families are struggling with having to start their lives all over again. The loss is tremendous and difficult to comprehend.

Across the Pacific Ocean near the Carribean sea Haitians have not moved ahead very much after suffering a major earthquake over a year ago. The death toll was over 300,000 people with many more injured. A British surgeon who saved a three year old girl's life with surgery to her head in England, re visited Haiti and found worse than before conditions. Most of the rubble still not removed and people living in lee than basic conditions.

Let us remember earthquake victims around the world.
