Cyclone Yasi hits north Queensland

Cyclone Yasi advertised as category 5 arrived at around midnight last night. The eye of the cyclone hit at Mission Beach (ground zero), Tully and Innisfail. 175000 homes have lost power as reported this morning. There are no reports of injuries and fatalities. The magnitude of the destruction is yet to be fully assessed. Cairns was spared from the worst of the cyclone. Evacuation centers proved safe havens for many thousands of residents who shared their fears and anxieties of the Yasi 2011 experience. Thank you Lord for keeping your people safe. Take care of the people as they face the consequences of the devastation yet to be fully realised.
