Last Sunday before Elections in Samoa

What are the messages in churches around Samoa today given General Elections is on Friday 4th March 2011 or FOUR DAYS AWAY?
Do church goers see a role of the Church in preparing the people for Elections? Each church goer of course will have their own answer. To me, church environment ought to offer opportunities for candidates and voters alike to do the right thing on Election Day! In fact, the call on the government to be more democratic and more christian is the peoples' call to the Church to stand up and see how the people are affected badly by government policies - poverty on the rise, children selling on the streets instead of attending schools, theft and burglary escalating, people complaining health care difficult to access, etc, etc, Casino Bill, villagers threatened to vote for particular candidates, candidates discriminated because government paid pulenu'u decides...Are these not area requiring spiritual interventions? Are these not areas where the shepherd guides the sheep to the path of righteousness, love, and understanding? Why does the Church let Satan rule in people's heart?
My prayer is for church leaders and church goers to not be fearful like those already mentioned in the Samoan media last week.
I pray for the combined Church in Samoa to stand up for the poor, the weak, the imprisoned, the sick, the lonely, and to help instil a sense of responsible governance in all candidates running for the Elections..to instil a sense of humility in all public servants so that the duty of serving the public with love, honesty and integrity is resurrected. I pray that the evil forces will stay away from the election process as people cast their votes for a new Parliament for the people of Samoa. in Jesus name I pray - AMEN.
