Understanding World Politics

My research on International Relations theories reveal that
1. realist and leberalist approaches failed to predict the end of the Cold War in 1989.
2. neo-realist and neo-liberalist approaches failed to predict September 11.

A study of alternative theoretical approaches viz a viz Marxism, Critical theories, Postmodernism, Feminism, Constructionism can help identify many exclusive features of the mainstream theories. Their different skills of analysis and interpretion provide comprehensive ways to look at and gain an understanding of world politics.

At this point in time in the history of International Relations, we do not, have a total understanding of world politics. The presence of alternative approaches, can add to the mainstream approaches and give us a more eclectic and more inclusive understanding of world politics.
